The first thing that you should check to see whether you have this error is the power supply light. If the light is green and your Xbox 360 is turned on then you have the 3 red lights of doom, however if you have turned on the Xbox 360 and the power supply light is orange then you probably have a faulty power supply and should ring Microsoft.
You can also try plugging the power pack directly into a wall socket as oppose to a plug extension as this can make a difference as well. Sometimes it can be because the power pack can not get sufficient power.

The other option you have is to fix the problems yourself and to do this you will need to find a suitable Xbox 360 Repair guide that will show you how to do this. There are a few about online however I would say to be careful as not all of them are quality ans some are just collections of posts from forums and that will not help you fix it at all!
However there are a few of them that should get the job done as they have videos that will guide you through everything you need to do to fix it. Do bear in mind that if you open up your console you will get rid of any remaining warranty that you have on the machine.
